Summer Fun!

It's hard to believe today is August 22nd already!  Where has the time gone!  My daughter starts grade 12 in two weeks.  Next year at this time we will be sending her off to college!  I'm not sure I'm ready for that!  While I love the summer I have to say I'm looking forward to the fall and getting back to some regular routines.  Let things slow down a little - but not just yet!  We DO have two more weeks for some summer fun!

I haven't had much time for scrapbooking or crafting in the past several months.  Life just got in the way!  But, I have been taking lots of pictures so I have plenty of material to work with when I do get the chance.  I became a great Aunt twice this year!  Two beautiful little girls.  Scrapbooking pictures of these two is going to be a joy.  Here are their beautiful faces!

I've been itching to create some layouts with these two cuties but the weather has been to nice to spend too much time indoors.  Having said that, my imagination has not been idle!  My daughter and I have some plans in the works for Christmas cards, Hallowe'en treats and some homemade gifts.  The possibilities are endless!

If you interested in scrapbooking or paper crafting, send me an email and I'd be more than happy to share information with you.  I also know two wonderful ladies, a Close to my  Heart rep and a Stampin' Up! rep who would be eager to help you get started as well.  Scrapbooking is a wonderful way to preserve those special (and sometimes just funny) memories.  Card making brings a personal touch back to a season that is way to commercialized now!  There are also several Crop days coming up in the Arnprior/Renfrew area.  These crafting days are great.  Not only do you get to spend up to 12 hours doing whatever craft you love, but you get to spend that time with some great people who also love to craft, share ideas and make new friends!  Email me at timmygal@hotmail.com

February : Scrapbook Layout

With the fairly nice weather we have been having this winter it has been difficult to find the time to spend in my studio to scrapbook or just be creative.  Not that I'm complaining!  I'll take the milder weather anytime!  I've decided to post a scrapbook layout that I did for a special friend.  We met while I was in the hospital in December and her beautiful smile and cheery positive attitude helped me get better, more than I can ever express to her in words.  I guess that is why they say 'a picture is worth a thousand words'!

Below is a template with the measurements listed.  I used paper from the Perfect Day kit from Close to my Heart.  The co-ordinating embellishments were purchased at Michael's.

For the month of March I'm thinking of trying to do a Smash book.  These books seem like they are fun to do as there is no organization or fore thought required!  You can make them as neat or as abstract as you feel, go with the moment!

The date for the next crop at Glad Tiding Church is February 18th.  If your interested in attending, please email me and I will forward the contact info to you.  Also check out my recommended sites for local businesses.  Until next time, happy scrappin!

Create a little Bling for yourself!

Chase away the January blues by creating a little bling for yourself!  It's a great way to spend a little time out of the cold and show off your creativity.

These earrings were made from charms purchased at Michael's.  The hooks and rings were puchased at the local dollar store.  A very cost effective way to add to your accessories.

The longer charm displayed with the earrings is made from a domino tile using designer paper and Crystal Effects from Stampin' Up! and is easy to do but does take some drying time.  The other charm is made from a tile from a scrabble game using the same process.

Your imagination is the only limit to what you can do, you can add photos to make picture charms or glitter and beads can be added for extra sparkle.

I've created a PDF tutorial of this project.  Email me at valleyscrapper@gmail.com for your free copy.  Check back next month for another fun project!
